Set it up
Only admins can set up website chat.1
Open the Website chat page
In the sidebar, go to Channels, then Website chat.
2
Click Set up website chat
Ciarem creates your widget and gives you a one-line embed snippet.
3
Copy the snippet
Use the Copy button next to the snippet.
4
Paste it into your site
Add the snippet just before the closing
</body> tag, on every page where you want the bubble. That is the whole install: no plugin, no developer project.Appearance and domains
Under Appearance & domains you can style the bubble and list the domains it is allowed to load on. Changes take effect the next time the widget loads on your site.
Where conversations go
A visitor who opens the bubble becomes a conversation in your Inbox, marked as the website channel, like any other. The same agent answers, the same transfer rules apply, and you can take over at any moment. If the visitor shares contact details, they become a contact like anyone else. Media works in both directions. Visitors can send photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF), voice notes, and documents (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, or plain text) up to 10 MB each. Anything else is refused at upload, so nothing arrives that the Inbox cannot show. Your team can send back images, video, audio, and documents up to 16 MB. Images and voice notes play inside the chat; other files (video included) arrive as downloads. Website chat is a simple chat: there are no reactions and no quoted replies.Visitor verification
Each visitor can send 6 free messages before verifying. A small counter warns them when 2 or fewer remain. At the limit the composer is replaced by a verification panel: “You’ve reached the free message limit. Verify by email or WhatsApp to keep chatting.” Your agent can also invite a visitor to verify earlier in the conversation. That early invitation can be dismissed; the hard limit cannot.- Email is always offered: the visitor enters their address and receives a 6-digit code (valid 10 minutes, resendable after 30 seconds, 5 attempts).
- WhatsApp appears as a second option only when your WhatsApp channel is connected and its verification template has been approved by Meta. The code then arrives as a WhatsApp message from your own number. Each WhatsApp code is billed to your wallet at Meta’s authentication rate; email codes are free.
