# Send WhatsApp from a HubSpot record
> Add the WhatsApp · Ciarem card to your HubSpot contact, company and deal records, and send an approved WhatsApp template without leaving HubSpot.
Once [HubSpot is connected](/integrations/hubspot), your team can send an approved WhatsApp [template](/channels/message-templates) straight from a HubSpot record, using a card called **WhatsApp · Ciarem**. On a contact it sends to that contact. On a company or a deal it sends to the contacts associated with it.
HubSpot does not show the card on its own. A HubSpot admin adds it to your record views once, and from then on everyone who uses those views sees it.
## Before you start
* HubSpot is connected to Ciarem and its setup is finished. See [HubSpot](/integrations/hubspot).
* You have at least one connected [WhatsApp number](/channels/connect-whatsapp) and one approved template.
* You are a **Super Admin** in HubSpot. Only Super Admins can add an app's card to record views.
## Add the card to your records
In HubSpot, click the settings icon in the top bar. In the left menu, go to **Integrations**, then **Connected apps**.
Click **Ciarem** in the list of apps, open the **Settings** tab, and stay on **App cards**.
Click **Manage locations** on the **WhatsApp · Ciarem** card. A panel opens on the right with one tab per record type: **Contacts**, **Companies** and **Deals**. In each tab, under **Record Page**, tick **WhatsApp · Ciarem** next to the views where you want the card. **Default view** is the one everyone sees unless their team has its own view.
Click **Save**. Open any contact and the card is there, in the middle of the record.
In Ciarem, **Settings > Integrations > HubSpot** has an **Open connected apps in HubSpot** link that takes you straight to the first step.
To move the card up or down, or to another tab of the record, go to HubSpot's **Settings > Objects**, pick the record type, and open **Record customization**. To remove the card, go back to **Manage locations**, untick every view and save.
## Send a template from a contact
In the card, pick the number the message is sent from.
Pick one of your approved templates for that number.
A **Variable values (JSON)** box appears, already listing each variable of the template. Type the value for each one between the quotes. Use fixed text, or a contact property such as `{{contact.first_name}}` to fill it from each recipient.

Click **Send template**. The card confirms the message is queued. **Refresh status** shows whether it was sent, delivered or read, and **Open in Ciarem** opens the send in Ciarem.
Messages sent from the card are real WhatsApp messages. They are charged to your WhatsApp wallet like any other template. See [WhatsApp costs and templates](/billing/whatsapp-costs-and-templates).
## Send to a company's or a deal's contacts
On a company or a deal, the card lists the associated contacts under **Who receives it**, all ticked. Untick anyone who should not get the message, then click **Send to N selected**.
* A contact shown greyed out can't receive this template. The row says what is missing, for example a phone number.
* Contacts that are not synced to Ciarem are not listed. A note under the list tells you how many.
* After sending, the card shows how many messages were sent, delivered, read and failed.
## If something is not working

| The card is not on the record | It has not been added to the view you are using. Repeat [Add the card to your records](#add-the-card-to-your-records) and tick that view, for every record type you need. |
| There is no **Settings** tab on the app, or no **Manage locations** button | You are not a Super Admin in HubSpot. Ask one to add the card. |
| **No WhatsApp number to send from** | HubSpot is no longer connected to Ciarem, or Ciarem has no WhatsApp number connected. Check both in Ciarem. |
| A template is missing from the list | Only approved templates of the chosen number are listed. Templates that need a button code, a dynamic link, a countdown, or a header file that Ciarem doesn't have stored can't be sent from HubSpot. |
| **This contact hasn't synced to Ciarem yet** | New HubSpot contacts sync within the hour. If it still fails, check that your [import filters](/integrations/hubspot#what-syncs) include the contact. |
| **Ciarem doesn't have permission to read this record's contacts yet** | In Ciarem, open **Settings > Integrations > HubSpot** and click **Grant access** on the banner. |
| **The variable values must be valid JSON** | Keep the quotes, colons and commas of the box as they were, and only type between the quotes of each value. |
| **Insufficient balance** | Top up your WhatsApp wallet in Ciarem. See [Plans and billing](/billing/plans-and-billing). |
