# AI assistants (MCP)

> Connect Ciarem to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any assistant that supports MCP, and ask about your conversations, contacts, knowledge base, metrics, and your AI agent's setup and performance in plain language.

You can connect Ciarem to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. Once it's connected, you can ask the assistant things like "which chats are waiting for a reply?" or "prep me for my call with Laura", and it reads the answer from your Ciarem workspace. Ciarem connects through MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard, so it works in any assistant that supports remote MCP servers.

The connection is **read-only**: the assistant can look things up, but it can't send messages, edit contacts, or change any setting.

## Before you start

* You need a Ciarem user in a workspace with an active plan or trial.
* Every person connects with their own Ciarem login. The assistant sees what that person sees in Ciarem, nothing more.
* No admin setup is needed in Ciarem. Any member of the workspace can connect.

The address to add in your assistant is:

```
https://api.ciarem.ai/mcp
```

## Connect

When you add the address, the assistant opens a Ciarem sign-in page. Sign in, choose the **workspace** to connect if you belong to more than one, and allow access. One connection reads one workspace; to use two workspaces, add Ciarem twice and pick a different one each time.

The menus below belong to each assistant and can change. If a label doesn't match, look for "connectors", "apps", or "MCP servers" in its settings.

**Claude**

Ciarem is listed in Claude's connector directory as **Ciarem AI**, so you don't need to paste the address.

**1. Open the Ciarem AI connector**

Open [Ciarem AI in the Claude directory](https://claude.ai/directory/ciarem-ai), or in Claude (web or desktop) go to **Settings > Connectors**, browse the connectors, and search for "Ciarem AI".

**2. Connect your account**

Click **Connect**, then sign in to Ciarem and choose your workspace.

**3. Use it in a chat**

Turn Ciarem on from the **+** menu in a conversation and ask your question.

On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may have to enable the connector for the organization under **Admin settings > Connectors** before members can connect.

**ChatGPT**

Ciarem is listed in ChatGPT's app directory, so you don't need to paste the address.

**1. Open the Ciarem app**

Open [Ciarem in the ChatGPT directory](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ac028974a38819183e40cf821805610), or in ChatGPT go to **Settings > Apps & Connectors**, browse the directory, and search for "Ciarem".

**2. Connect your account**

Click **Connect**, then sign in to Ciarem and choose your workspace.

**3. Use it in a chat**

Select Ciarem from the tools menu in a conversation and ask your question.

On Business and Enterprise plans, your ChatGPT admin may have to allow the app first.

**Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code**

In Claude Code, run:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http ciarem https://api.ciarem.ai/mcp
```

Then type `/mcp`, choose **ciarem**, and sign in.

In Cursor (`~/.cursor/mcp.json`) or VS Code (`.vscode/mcp.json`), add the server and start it; the editor opens the Ciarem sign-in on first use:

```json theme={null}
{
  "servers": {
    "ciarem": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.ciarem.ai/mcp" }
  }
}
```

Cursor uses `mcpServers` instead of `servers` as the top-level key.

**Other assistants**

Any assistant that supports **remote MCP servers with OAuth** can connect. Add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with the address above and no API key. The assistant registers itself and sends you to the Ciarem sign-in page.

## What you can ask

| The assistant can | Who |
| - | - |
| Tell you which Ciarem user and workspace it's connected as | Everyone |
| Search contacts by name, phone, or email, optionally by funnel stage or only yours, and open a contact with their latest conversations | Everyone |
| List inbox conversations by status, channel, assigned to you, or unassigned, and read a conversation, internal notes included | Everyone |
| Search your [knowledge bases](https://help.ciarem.ai/ai-agent/knowledge-bases.md) the same way your AI agent does, or find where an exact phrase appears | Everyone |
| Look up how-to steps in this help center, in English, Spanish, or Portuguese | Everyone |
| Report conversation and team metrics for the last 24 hours or 7 days | Admins |
| Check whether your AI agent is ready and what to fix, plus each channel's status | Admins |
| Explain why the AI agent answered, transferred, or declined in a contact's recent conversations | Admins |
| Show how your AI agent is set up: business profile, tone and other settings, each agent's job and questions, coaching, and [transfer rules](https://help.ciarem.ai/ai-agent/human-handoff-and-escalation.md) | Admins |
| Report how the AI agent performed in the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days: how much it handled or transferred, errors, reply time, and the transfer rules that fired most | Admins |
| List your knowledge sources, read one in full, and list the questions customers asked that your knowledge couldn't answer | Admins |
| Summarize your [response evaluations](https://help.ciarem.ai/ai-agent/evaluation-center.md): each category's verdict, the correction applied, and example replies | Admins |

Some prompts to try:

* "Which conversations assigned to me are waiting for a reply? Summarize each in one line."
* "Prep me for my call with Laura Gómez: her funnel stage, properties, and what we last talked about."
* "What does our knowledge base say about refunds?"
* "Give me a weekly report: conversations, how many the AI handled, and the team leaderboard."
* "Why did the AI transfer the last conversation with +57 300 123 4567?"
* "What should I improve in my AI agent?"
* "Which source makes the AI say shipping costs \$5?"

Each answer includes links back to Ciarem, so you can open the contact or conversation and reply from there.

## Who sees what

The assistant uses the [role](https://help.ciarem.ai/using-ciarem/roles-and-permissions.md) of the person who connected it:

* **Agents** see only their own contacts and the conversations they can see in the inbox. The admin-only questions answer that an admin is needed.
* **Admins** see the whole workspace.

Ciarem checks your access on every question. If you're removed from the workspace or your role changes, the connection follows right away.

What you ask, and the Ciarem data the assistant reads to answer, is sent to that assistant's provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI) and handled under their terms. Connect only assistants your company allows for customer data.

## Disconnect

Remove or disconnect Ciarem in the assistant's connector or app settings. Removing a person from the workspace also ends every connection they made.

## Troubleshooting

* **"subscription\_required"**: the workspace has no active plan or trial. See [Plans and billing](https://help.ciarem.ai/billing/plans-and-billing.md).
* **"requires\_admin"**: the question needs an admin; agents can't see metrics, account health, AI decision explanations, or the AI agent's setup, performance, knowledge sources, knowledge gaps, and evaluations.
* **"help\_unavailable"**: the help center couldn't be reached; ask again in a moment.
* **Sign-in loops or "invalid token" right after connecting**: disconnect, connect again, and make sure you pick a workspace on the Ciarem sign-in page.
* **A contact or conversation isn't found**: it isn't visible to your user in Ciarem either, or it belongs to another workspace than the one you connected.
